The Measurement Tool enables users to interactively perform a range of measurements in both 2D and 3D, facilitating dimension analysis, progress monitoring, and the identification of discrepancies between real objects and their designs. The available measurement methods include:
- Coordinate: Display GPS position of selected point.
- Angle: Measures angles in degrees.
- Distance: Measure distance between points.
- Height: Measure height between points.
- Footprint Area: Measures the surface area of a plane by projecting the selected points onto the x-y (ground) plane.
- Plane-fit Area: Measures the surface area to a plane fitted to the selected points.
- Surface Area: Measures the surface area between selected points.
- Cut & Fill Volume: Performs volumetric measurement of point cloud of selected region.
Measure in 2D and 3D
The Measurement Tool can be utilized in 2D with and without drawing overlay or 3D within and outside of image mode to capture specific dimensions of interest.
Take measurements in 2D to verify construction against design drawings.
- Verify location of footings, columns and walls.
- Verify placement of major equipment.
Take measurements in 2D for reality objects that have no design.
- Estimate laydown areas.
- Use as a basis for as-built CAD designs.
- View material laydown areas.
- View landscaping installation.
Take 3D measurements in image view based on the underlying 3D reality model and compare against BIM Design.

Measurement Accuracy
The accuracy of measurements depends on the method of capture, the quality of the 3D reality model and the points selected during measurement.
