(1) Where to connect your camera to the capture app
- Begin Connecting your camera to the capture app by clicking on the “Connect a 360 camera to start capture” link in the hyperlapse capture module. Or Click the Connect a camera icon in the 360 image capture module.

(2A) Connecting a Insta 360 Camera on iOS
- To connect a new Insta 360 camera on iOS tap ‘New Camera’ and then ‘Continue’
- Next, select the camera you would like to connect from the list of supported cameras, and then tap ‘Continue’
- Next, ensure your camera is on, fully charged, and has an SD card inserted with sufficient space. Then tap ‘Continue’
- For Insta 360 cameras on iOS, the app will begin searching for the camera network and automatically connect to it. Once connected, the app will briefly display a successfully connected screen and then return you to the capture screen

- To connect a new Insta 360 camera on iOS tap ‘New Camera’ and then ‘Continue’

(2B) Connecting a Ricoh camera on iOS
- To connect a Ricoh Theta X or Z1 to the capture app on iOS first select the Ricoh camera you would like to connect to from the list of supported cameras.
- On step 4 select the WiFi network associated with your camera. Ricoh Z1 Camera networks begin with THETAYN and Ricoh X camera networks begin with THETAYR. Your camera’s password is the series of numbers after the THETAYN prefix and before .OSC (ex. THETAYNXXXXXXXX.OSC)
- Please Note: Capture app users on iOS will need to go to their WiFi settings page to select the camera’s network and enter the camera’s password when connecting a Ricoh camera for the first time. Once connected, navigate back to the capture app and select ‘Continue’. This step is not necessary when reconnecting to a previously connected camera.

(2C) Connecting a Insta 360 or Ricoh Camera on Android
- To connect any camera for the first time on Android you must first select ‘New Camera” and then “Continue”.
- Next, ensure your camera is on, fully charged and has an SD card with sufficient space for a capture. Next select “Continue”
- On step 4 of the camera connection process select the camera network associated with your camera. Insta 360 Camera networks will begin with an X2, X3, or RS1 prefix while Ricoh camera networks will begin with THETAYN or THETAYR. After selecting the camera network, the app will automatically connect to the camera and return the user to the capture module.

(3) Reconnecting to a previously connected camera
- To reconnect to any previous camera on either iOS or Android first select which previously connected camera you would like to reconnect to from the list of previously connected cameras and then select “Continue”

- Next, confirm your camera is on, fully charged and has an SD card with sufficient space for a capture. Next a pop up will be displayed asking you if you would like to connect to the selected camera. Select “Yes” and the app will automatically connect to this camera and return the user to the capture screen.

(4) Connecting a camera with a custom password
- Some cameras allow users to manually change the password. The Capture app allows users to enter custom camera passwords after an unsuccessful automatic connection has been attempted.
- To manually enter a custom camera password, select “Manually connect your camera” or “next” in the manual connection pop up.

(5) Tips & Best practices
- Always make sure your camera is on and fully charged before attempting to connect it to the capture app.
- Always ensure your SD Card has sufficient storage space prior to beginning a capture. To clear space on your SD card please follow the instructions provided by your camera manufacturer (Insta 360, Ricoh)
- If using a Ricoh camera, ensure the LAN setting is on. More detailed instructions can be found here.
- In the event of a critical error, a user can still connect their camera to the app by connecting your mobile device to the WiFi network associated with the camera by selecting the camera network on the phone WiFi settings page.
- ALWAYS allow all capture app permissions, failure to do so will prevent a user from being able to use the app. Users can ensure they are able to connect by verifying on the device's settings page.
